USA eSIM: Networks, Daily Limits and What Happens After

All 13 Skylano USA eSIM plans list 2 networks, Verizon and AT&T. On a daily plan, you get 1.5GB, 3GB or 10GB a day; once that's used, the connection slows to 512 Kbps or 384 Kbps until the daily reset. Total-data plans don't have a daily limit: you get one allowance for the whole validity period, and data stops once it's used up.

The figures below come from Skylano's plan feed and the United States plan page, both checked on 3 November 2026.

01

Which networks do Skylano USA plans use?

All 13 USA plans in Skylano's feed list two networks: Verizon and AT&T. The plan page's Details list says "Networks: Verizon, AT&T, and other local network providers." The plan page doesn't say which network your phone will pick at a given place. For why the same eSIM can behave differently from one country to the next, see why your eSIM works differently in each country.

All 13 plans are data-only. The plan page says "Calls: Not available; calls can be made through VoIP apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, or WeChat." and "SMS: Not available." Hotspot sharing is allowed on all 13 plans; the page adds that "final availability depends on the device and local network." For more on this, see calls, SMS and hotspot on a travel eSIM.

02

What happens after a USA daily limit is used?

A daily plan gives you a set amount of data each day. Once you use it, data keeps working at a lower rate until the daily reset. You choose how many days to buy, and the total is the daily price times the number of days. The table lists the 3 USA-only daily plans; for daily prices in other countries, see pay-by-day eSIM prices by country.

Daily dataPrice per dayAfter the daily data is used7 days costsTop-up
1.5GB$3.49Slows to 512 Kbps until the daily reset$24.43No
3GB$7.99Slows to 512 Kbps until the daily reset$55.93Yes
10GB$9.99Slows to 384 Kbps until the daily reset$69.93Yes

The 1.5GB daily plan can't be topped up; the plan page shows "This plan does not support direct top-up; you can purchase a new plan instead." when it's selected. The 3GB and 10GB daily plans can be topped up.

The 3 USA daily plans reset at midnight (24:00, also written 0:00) in the time zone set on your phone. Until then, data keeps working at the lower rate shown in the table above.

03

How do the 10 total-data USA plans work?

Each of the 10 total-data plans gives you one data allowance to use at any pace during its validity period, from 7 to 180 days. The feed doesn't list a reduced rate for these plans: on all 10 total-data USA plans, data stops once the allowance is used up.

DataValid forPrice
1GB7 days$2.49
3GB15 days$4.49
3GB30 days$4.99
5GB30 days$6.99
10GB30 days$13.49
15GB30 days$17.49
20GB30 days$24.99
50GB30 days$56.49
20GB90 days$28.99
50GB180 days$70.49

All 10 total-data USA plans can be topped up. For how to check a plan's Top-up line, see can I top up my eSIM data?.

04

How do daily and total-data plans compare over 7 days?

For a week in the USA, 3GB a day for 7 days costs $55.93, which buys up to 21GB at the full rate. The 20GB 30-day total-data plan costs $24.99, and the 10GB 30-day plan costs $13.49:

OptionData for 7 daysPriceDaily limit
3GB a day × 7 daysUp to 21GB (3GB each day)$55.93Yes, throttled to 512 Kbps after 3GB
20GB for 30 days20GB in total$24.99No
10GB for 30 days10GB in total$13.49No

A daily plan suits you if you want to know you'll have some data on every day of the 7, even at a lower rate. A total-data plan suits you if your use changes from day to day and you'd rather spend the allowance as you need it.

What if you're also visiting Canada or Mexico?

If your trip crosses into Canada or Mexico, a regional plan keeps 1 eSIM for the whole route; here's the 3GB, 30-day option on each:

Plan3GB for 30 daysDaily options
USA & Canada$11.49500MB, 1GB or 2GB a day
North America (USA, Canada, Mexico)$11.491.5GB, 3GB or 5GB a day
USA only$4.991.5GB, 3GB or 10GB a day

For setup steps for the 13 USA plans, see the USA eSIM guide and how to use an eSIM in the USA.

Who is this not for?

This page may not fit your trip in 3 cases:

  • You need calls, SMS or a local phone number. All 13 USA plans are data-only. In Skylano's plan feed on 3 November 2026, all 2,013 plans list voice and SMS as not included. Skylano's Terms say that, unless a product page expressly states otherwise, plans don't include voice calls, SMS, emergency calling or a local phone number.
  • You also need data in Canada or Mexico. The 13 plans on this page list the United States only; use 1 of the 2 regional plans above.
  • You're going to Puerto Rico. None of the 13 USA plans list Puerto Rico; it has 3 plans of its own, from $3.49 for 1GB over 7 days, on the Puerto Rico page.

About this data: where do these numbers come from?

  • Source: Skylano's plan feed (https://www.skylano.com/feeds/plans.json), generated at 2026-11-02T23:40:09Z (UTC) and read on November 3, 2026.
  • Counting method: we took every plan in the feed that lists exactly one country, the United States: 13 plans. Daily plans are those with a daily data allowance and a per-day price; the other 10 are total-data plans. Data amounts are the feed's dataCap value. A 7-day cost is the per-day price times 7, as the feed states that N days cost the per-day price times N.
  • Prices are in USD as listed in the feed on 3 November 2026 and can change.
  • Download: the full table of 13 plans is available as a CSV file at https://www.skylano.com/data/usa-esim-plans.csv.
  • Licence: this data is published under CC BY 4.0. You can reuse it with credit to Skylano and a link to this page.
  • CSV columns (14): plan_id is the plan identifier exactly as listed in the feed; plan_name is the plan name; plan_type is daily for plans with a daily data allowance and total for plans with one allowance for the whole validity period; data is the data allowance (the feed's dataCap value), per day for daily plans; validity_days is the validity in days (1 for daily plans, which are bought by the day); price_usd is the USD price, per day for daily plans; purchase_days_min and purchase_days_max are the purchasable day range for daily plans, left empty for total plans; reduced_rate_after_daily_data is the feed's throttle value for the plan, left empty where the feed has none; networks lists the network names given in the feed; can_top_up and tethering are the feed's true/false values; destination_page is the plan's page; feed_generated_at is the feed's generatedAt.
